Sueños

Si fuese un cuento infantil, she’d wish upon a star,
constellations looking down at her as her crystal-moon tears slide down upon the cold, brown skinned
soft, blood colored cachetitos
The wind dances around her hair tickling her neck so that her voice can echo and take space as music in the dimmed lit darkness
porque las noches de invierno cantan
A winter warmer than the last that fogs the brain into a mist
thawing the ice-cold orbs of memories that she hopes stay frozen in time because she is no longer that girl
Una princesa ya no
She tugs at the lilac sleeves of her dress and looks beyond at her window
where a familiar face
a new friend, a new companion, a complete stranger looks down ever so slightly
Si fuese un cuento infantil
her lips would quiver and stretch
perfect teeth would shine under the moonlight but she never knew that magic
one where fairy godmother would come and save her
So her teeth chatter under the winter’s breeze squirrels mimicking her as if to respond telling her she will be okay this winter night
Pero
as she looks above
a streaking light passes through Reflecting on her rich, dirt eyes
Y como si fuese un cuento infantil, exhala y cierra los ojos
y pide un deseo para que cuando sueñe sea un cuento de hadas
